Migrant Workers of the Virginia Tidewater

Gabriel Philipsen, Research Assistant is a recent graduate of Virginia Tech who received a B.A. in Multimedia Journalism with a minor in Psychology. Along with his work on the Migrant Workers of the Virginia Tidewater Project, he has done professional broadcast and reporting work for ‘The News Feed NRV’ and was a part of radio station ‘WUVT-FM’ for 4 years. In this project, he focused on the creation and formatting of the website, video editing of clips, and writing portions of the ‘What it means to work here’ article. Gabriel is currently pursuing a career in Broadcast and Entertainment Journalism in Washington D.C.



Lila Bartolomeo, Research Assistant Lila Bartolomeo is currently a senior at Virginia Tech studying International Relations with a concentration in Spanish and a double minor in International Business and Marketing. She specializes research, policy analysis, and project management. Lila is currently working at the Department of Publishing at Virginia Tech to produce both engaging and meaningful segments on the migrant workers on the Eastern Shores of Virginia. Past projects that Lila has worked on include being a research lead for the US Department of State’s Diplomacy Lab, being a national writer for Her Campus, and a researcher for various reconciliation processes. Lila is looking forward to continuing working on projects within the international relations realm.
